We begin by asking the gods where we should head to find the other key for the lock in the door at the lake.
The coin lands SE of Sophia’s Rest, so we aim to head out from the Anderson farm and into the mountains to the SE, in search of the key, and the highest peak of the area.
Rusty takes us on a good route SE, getting into the foothills promptly without getting lost, this expedition is doomed.
As we enter the higher hills, we get ambushed by 2 flying air elementals and do our best to fend them off. A few folks get hurt, but nobody goes down.
We finally hit the mountains proper, and find a lake, and ahead of us, the highest peak of the area.
Florian sticks his head into the lake to see if there’s anyone to chat to, eventually being replied to by a thin voice saying to leave. Fae’ael and Florian press a little more to ask if they want anything, and quickly a ripple hits Florian and shunts out of the lake, giving those around a vision of a dragon creature in the lake swimming toward us. We choose to leave.
We set toward the peak to get a good look around, ambushed by another galeweaver on the peak. After picking it off fairly easily, we make camp, only to be ambushed by a much stronger elemental. Florian and Gloom almost go over the cliff, with Gloom being knocked unconscious, but saved from death by Belrith.
From the peak of the mountain, Belrith asks his deity if we will find the key in the mountains, with the answer coming up as no, via a cup and ball game with Fae’ael. From here, we decide to set down into the forest. Our first night in the forest, we encounter some orcs who jump us as we sleep. Orcs are a new foe, fun!
We take one orc alive, and get the location of a nearby shrine from them, before letting them loose to leave.
We check out the shrine, built by what the orc called “the last interlopers”, a shrine to Apollo. We get some cash from the shrine, and then head home, going around the mountains to discover what lies along the western edge of them.
We find a mossy knight who demands a challenge, and we skirt past him, telling Florian that we will return to fight him later, with better paints to depict the challenge.
We also find an Orc Tower on the way back north, and some burial sites, and note both to return to later.
As we get home, we discover that the Fort in the north, which Rusty has claimed as his stronghold, has had its renovations, road and farm completed, and we now have a safe launching point in the North.
