We head southwest on the boat and find a shipwreck with some cargo floating around it. Florian and Ilai-the-sea-otter go investigate and find a chest with a bunch of treasure worth 1350 gp, as well as a very big tooth from a shark-like creature. We don’t run into any trouble getting to shore, although Florian points out everything that MIGHT be a huge shark.
We rest at the altar as Fae’ael dedicates it to Lady Luck. Raoul wakes up unaffected by the eye (for now…) and we make our way into the forest toward the peak. While traveling, we run into some earth elementals who do not respond to Fae’ael’s overture of peace.

After another rest, we continue into the forest and find a river and a smooth path—like something ate up all the vegetation and left a smooth, 4-foot-wide gap of glassy stone. Some kind of magic snail? Florian identifies it as a flail snail trail and shares that flail snails have gems in their shells but are very dangerous—though not necessarily aggressive?
We fly by Ilai Air to the top of the peak and are immediately attacked by a large earth elemental AND a greater earth elemental. Once we defeat them (much dart-throwing, arrow-slinging, hammer-smashing, and rock-punching), we can finally see the lands beyond the mountain peak! There are two areas of swamp, another ocean, and many more mountains to explore.
On the way back, Raoul suffers a hallucination wherein he believes that he’s under the effects of a potion of giant’s strength. For 50 hours. To appease him and keep him from hurting himself, Fae’ael pretends to fill a bag with “heavy treasure” and asks Raoul to carry it because it’s too heavy for any of us. Ilai and Florian exchange many a glance. (While traveling, we also pass an older flail snail trail and fight some MORE earth elementals.)
At the shelter, Ilai and Fae’ael set up a translocation orb to form a portal that links to the previously established one in Sophia’s Rest, weaving branches and brush together to form a pointed archway that then took root in the ground and grew into two trees, with the orb hanging between them like a glowing lantern.
Instead of trying out the new portal, we head back the slow way in order to pick up the boat. Unfortunately, Raoul’s afflictions intensify; he stops speaking and then begins compulsively counting his belongings. By the time we get back to Sophia’s Rest, these effects have faded and Raoul insists that he’s fine, teleporting away from Ilai and Fae’ael who are trying to take him to Belrith to have the curse (and eye) removed. Ilai wild shapes into a bear, chases Raoul down, and grapples him, carrying him to Belrith’s house. Tune in next time to find out if the curse is lifted…
