Today we assault the goblin base.
…eventually. We instantly get lost into the forest off our intended path and get attacked by a wild boar.
It’s easily taken care of.
We are really bad at rapidly moving cautiously and keep finding encounters.
We make our way to the Magic Apple Tree, and collect the 3 apples available.
Belrith also casts Aid and gives 3 of us additional hp before the major fight.
Time to assault the keep!
Our plan is to send the changeling in to scout the current indoors.
The orc envoy is here, that is bad news.
Taget successfully convinces a small group to leave the keep and come hunt us down, only for us to then attack them.
Successfully taking them down, we then ambush the patrol that laps the keep in a blind spot.
The patrol taken care of, we rush the front door of the keep.
Several hours of combat later…. Through harsh fighting and many near misses, we manage to kill so many folks. The boss gets whipped off a ledge into spikes and comes out massively damaged, then Rusty uses fire breath at the boss and mage. Burning Thrudd to a crisp.
We mop up the last few folks. And search the keep. We find some information displayed in a Mosaic: A floating tower, and a clear glacial lake in the nestled between mountains. A tree with yellow leaves is growing on an island, a closed door is set into it’s trunk. Then we travel home, knocking out the few last hexes unexplored near the base.
On the journey home, we discover a mosaic in the grasslands with a hint to a new location: Mural of a knight fighting a dragon. Next panel is the dragon fleeing, wounded. The knight is wounded too. Next panel is a godly woman handing the knight a scarf of silver scales. Next panel, the knight slaying the dragon, while wearing the scarf and a silver shield. Final panel shows him being laid to rest atop a forested mountain island.
